AN EVENING OF SHAKESPEARE

The Guild
Theatreworks will be presenting "A
Night of Shakespeare" at the
Bob Anstett Cultural Arts Center
at 515 Herbertsville Road in Brick
on Tuesday, May 25th at 7:00pm.
Following a tradition begun by Bob
Anstett this varied night of
Shakespearean pieces allows the
performers to stretch their acting
muscles by presenting the classical
theatre pieces which have permeated
not only English speaking cultures
but the majority of cultures around
the world. Since the
16th century the words and
characters of Shakespeare have
transcended the centuries and
brought us many of the
common phrases and bits of
philosophy we use today without
even realizing they began in a
comedy or tragedy by Shakespeare.
The actors are young, old and
in between; some are speaking these
words the first time and some have
been glorifying in them for
decades. The audience will revel in
the pathos, the drama, the cruelty,
and the compassion of some of his
famous characters and words. Come
discover a "Night of Shakespeare"
and take away an evening of
revelations.

"Ladies at Tea" is a delightful combination of
scenes from a variety of plays, both dramatic and comedic, which examine
the complex relationships women have with each other.
The scenes include;a discussion of the role of the First Lady in our
White House through the eyes of the like of Jackie Kennedy, Lady Bird
Johnson, BessTruman, Pat Nixon and Mamie Eisenhower; the interaction of three sisters
whose loyalties have been tested throughout their lifetimes; what the women
of the tenements of New York City in the 1920's would talk about as they
literally hung out of their windows to catch a breeze in the summer heat;
the earnestness of three cheerleaders who believe their role as models for
their peers is a heavy responsibility.
Come join the ladies as the audience eavesdrops
on
their conversations during bridge, at tea, or in their homes where
they believe their secrets can be shared with their friends.
Admission is free, but seats are limited. The show will be presented at 7
PM, August 12, at the Cultural Arts Center, 515 Herbertsville Road,
Brick. Please call (732) 262-1006 for reservations
